Instead the underwear brand is accused of majorly ripping off the work of iconic makeup artist and industry legend Pat McGrath.
If you’re not familiar with Pat McGrath’s work, you still might recognise the packaging of her products.
Pat’s trademark is selling her lippies in pouches filled to the brim with sequins, for the ultimate sparkly explosion when you unwrap your latest beauty treat.
This is something Pat’s known for. It’s her thing.
So it’s a bit strange, then, that Victoria’s Secret made the decision to sell their perfumes in eerily similar sequin-packed bags.
As pointed out by Instagrammer diet_prada, Victoria’s Secret is selling a range of ornaments made up of tiny perfume bottles in sachets of sequins.
The brand is also selling gift boxes filled with sequins, too – and Pat McGrath fans aren’t impressed.
Diet_prada’s side-by-side comparison of Victoria’s Secret’s ornaments and Pat McGrath’s products has been flooded with comments bemoaning the lack of originality in the beauty and fashion industry, and criticising Victoria’s Secret for ripping off such an icon’s design.
‘The nerve…..every time this pops up in my feed and news alerts my blood boils,’ wrote one commenter.
‘OH HELL NO STAY AWAY FROM PAT MCGRATH,’ wrote another.
But the most important reaction is probably from Pat herself. Turns out she notices the similarities too, commenting on the photo with a bunch of horrified emoji faces.
We’ve reached out to Victoria’s Secret for comment and will update this story if we hear back.
