Secret demons: Scarlett Moffatt, 27, has revealed her secret battle with anxiety – which at one point got so bad left her unable to leave the house, sleep or eat

Known for her witty one-liners and endearing persona, Scarlett has become a household TV favourite and appears to ooze confidence whenever she is on screen.

But speaking candidly of her anxiety battle, the raven-haired bombshell has admitted that some days her stress led to her not being able to eat and she would feel ‘lethargic’ all the time from her lack of sleep.

‘My mum and dad were like, “Oh, you look awful”‘, she said, referring to her sleepless nights. ‘I’d say, “Yeah, I only got a couple of hours.” Actually I hadn’t slept at all and that set the anxiety off even more.’

Admitting that she knew it was ‘bizarre’, Scarlett explained she had convinced herself she would be a ‘target’ because of her reality star background.

The beauty, who hails from County Durham, said that the anxiety attacks started when she first appeared on Gogglebox in March 2014 – and they got so bad, she would feel like she was having an out of body experience.

An anxiety or panic attack often causes sufferers to avoid certain situations for fear of triggering another attack; thus leading to a ‘cycle of fear’ leaving them unable to leave the house.

Scarlett admitted that she suffered this intense feeling of fear herself on a’daily’ occurrence, adding: ‘I would get to my front door, cry, then go back and try to pump myself up again. Sometimes I got out the door after nine or 10 goes, sometimes I stayed inside all day.’

Sad: Admitting that she knew it was 'bizarre', Scarlett said: 'I¿d cry for two hours in the morning, because I had it in my head that people would see the camera and that would make me a target'

She opened up about her struggles as a child at school, where school bullies set up a website to taunt her, and cited this as the time where her struggles with anxiety began.

However, Scarlett admitted that she has now learnt to control her ‘demons’, and now feels happier than ever after buying a home in the North-East with her boyfriend Luke Crodden.

The starlet, who details her full struggles with anxiety in new autobiography Me Life Story: Sofa So Good, had sparked speculation she had split from Luke in recent weeks, after unfollowing her beau on social media, but it appears their romance is still going strong.

The pair were an item for a year before their initial split, with Luke, 28, supporting Scarlett through her I’m A Celebrity stint last November but split up in early 2017.

However, they rekindled the flame this summer and, despite the unfollowing that has gone on overnight, Scarlett’s rep insisted that they’re ‘100% still together’.

They decided to ‘give it another go’ according to a source who revealed details this summer, with Scarlett originally ‘needing space from Luke during some critical months in her career’.

The source added: ‘Now that Scarlett is more settled, she and Luke have been seeing a lot more of each other and have decided to make it official.’
