With every celeb breakup telling us that love is dead and we have no hope at ever finding happiness, we could all do with a reminder that love exists, things are okay, and there are still moments of pure, innocent cuteness in the world.
This note works perfectly, because it’s equal parts adorable, overly dramatic, and childish. It’s brilliant. It makes us smile.
Redditor dreichert87 shared an image of a note his niece, who’s in fifth grade (meaning she’s 10 or 11 years old), received from a kid in her class with a major crush on her.
‘Dear Abby,’ reads the note.
‘Your eyes remind me of the evening sky. My heart felt like broken glass until I saw you, and then I felt like I had every pokémon ever.
‘I love her you play Zelda even when people think it’s weird.
‘If you liked me it would be my first ever victory.’
Apparently the boy recruited other girls in the class to help him write the note, which is clearly the key to success.
‘This fifth grader has more game than I’ll ever have,’ wrote dreichert87. Agreed.
Sadly, dreichert87 reports that the child’s affections have gone unreturned, although they plan to ‘remain friends and continue to talk about Zelda in art class.’
The course of true love never did run smooth.
