George Michael 'rekindles friendship with old flame Kenny Goss' seven years after split

He split from his long term beau Kenny Goss back in 2009, revealing the news two years later in an emotional on-stage announcement.

But a new report suggests George Michael ‘is growing closer again’ to the Texan art dealer.

‘George and Kenny are back spending time together again and it’s an exciting time for those of us who have been so worried over the last few years,’ a close friend of the singer told The Sun

Rekindling friendship: George Michael is ‘becoming close’ to his old flame Kenny Goss

‘There have been some really dark periods for George, especially during the time apart from Kenny.

‘It was never straightforward but Kenny is the love of his life and is really good for him, so this is very good news.’

Following the split, George struggled with several personal setbacks, checking into a Swiss rehab centre last year.

The Careless Whisper hitmaker was said to have gone for an extended stay at the £190,000-a-month Kusnacht Practice in nearby town of Zollikon, which helps patients with drink and drug problems.

The clinic also treats ‘eating disorders, gambling compulsivity, depression, trauma and internet compulsivity’.

Since the 13-year relationship with Kenny ended, George began dating celebrity hairdresser Fadi Fawaz, with the pair last pictured together in September 2015.

Friends of the singer are hoping the rekindled friendship will provide him with momentum to reignite his singing career, with his last studio album Symphonica released back in 2014.

It was during the tour of the same name that George announced to fans he had split with Kenny, as he introduced a new track, Where I Hope You Are, which he admitted had been inspired by the break up.

New man; George went on to date hairdresser Fadi Fawaz, who he met soon after announcing the split with Kenny

Speaking at the start of the tour at the State Opera House in the Czech capital Prague, Michael said: ‘In truth, Kenny and I haven’t been together for two and a half years.

‘I love him very much. This man has brought me a lot of joy and pain. My love life has been a lot more turbulent than I’ve ever let on, and I’m so sad about my relationship with Kenny. I’m sorry for any pain.’

Speaking hesitantly, Michael also revealed that Goss, a Texan art dealer, had been fighting a battle with alcohol since the death of his parents several years ago.

He said: ‘My battles with substances are well documented. My partner has been through his own battle.’
