You know what fashion has always lacked?
The industry might make a huge proportion of its money from those of us blessed with vaginas but designers seem to have resolutely avoided actually sewing renditions of them on to dresses and shirts.
That is, until now.
Because over in New York, the Namilia Spring 2018 show was a tribute to all things vulva.
The label sent models down the catwalk in bejewelled vaginas
Pink, billowy, cavernous sleeves
Silky fabric vulva patches
And full vaginal patchworks of art
According to the show’s notes, designers Nan Li and Emlia Pfohl were inspired by Denis Diderot’s The Indiscreet Jewels.
If you’re not familiar, that’s a 1748 novel about a sultan who suspects his mistress has cheated on him. So a genie gives him a magic ring which, when rubbed and pointed at any woman’s vagina, tell the sultan about their past sexual experiences.
So, there’s that to look forward to next year.
