Fans of Britain’s Got Talent know to expect the unexpected when it comes to what happens on stage.

But the audience still couldn’t believe their eyes when Simon Cowell got up to chase Alesha Dixon with a microphone as she tried to hula-hoop for fans.

Lord of the rings, John Parnell took to the stage to showcase his hula-hoop act.

Sadly he failed to cut the mustard with Simon and Alesha both quickly buzzing.

In a playful mood, Simon joked that Peter’s performance backing song – titled Hoop Guy – was actually Alesha’s latest single.

And before contestant John left the stage he challenged the judges to out hula-hoop him if they could.

Co-host Dec was quick to quip: ‘I would pay good money to see Simon Cowell hoop!’

Alesha, who looked stunning in stripped wide-legged trousers and a figure hugging crop top, wore her hair in a tight bun paired with large gold hoop earrings.

The Drummer Boy hitmaker took to the stage and naturally looked at ease hula-hooping – treating the audience to a seductive rhythmic twirl.

But things started to descend when Simon – who was trying to get Alesha to sing at the same time – began chasing her around the stage with a microphone in his hand.

Thing became even funnier when David – known for poking fun at Simon – began twirling the hoop around the grumpy host, who looked typically unamused.

Simon even added: ‘I don’t know how to do this?’ as contestant Paul attempted to show him the technique.

It’s unusual for the audience to see Simon is such a playful mood so even Alesha couldn’t contain her laughter as he chased her around the stage saying: ‘You said you were going to sing.’

Watching on from the judges table, Amanda applauded Alesha’s efforts while the audience continued to laugh raucously.
