Imagine if you had to wear a uniform for work, but you simply couldn’t get one in your size.
That’s what loads of plus-size nurses and doctors have to deal with when it comes to getting scrubs.
Scrubs are rarely available in larger sizes, and when they are, nurses and doctors often have to pay more to access them.
They don’t tend to be flattering or comfortable, and they’re definitely not designed to make the wearer feel good.
One brand is trying to change that.
Jaanuu is a medical clothing brand, selling scrubs that are not only packed with special features to guarantee comfort and practicality, but also have sweet design details to flatter you, and make you feel less like you’re wearing a baggy, boring sack.
They’ve also just launched a plus-size range, selling scrubs up to a size 24.
The line includes four different styles of scrubs tops and five bottoms, all available in standard scrub colours. They cost the same no matter what size you order.
As well as being made with antimicrobial fabric that’s hygienic as well as comfortable, the scrubs are pretty stylish.
Because why shouldn’t plus-size women get to actually feel good in the clothes they have to wear for work?
‘When it comes to scrubs, plus-size women have few options, but the shopping and product experience is underwhelming,’ Jaanuu cofounder and CEO Shaan Sethi told Bustle.
“They often have to pay more for larger sizes and still resort to shapeless sacks that are not modeled on true plus-size bodies.’
While the line only goes up to a size 24 at the moment, Jaanuu say they’ll increase their range if there’s a demand. Nice.
Now, can someone start a similar company over in the UK? Dentists, doctors, and nurses deserve all the fancy embroidered scrubs their hearts desire.
