It definitely doesn’t look like what we’re used to, but images have surfaced that show one of the first ever applications of fake tan.
Bond fans may recognise the woman in these photos, released by British Pathe and Triangle News, as it’s Bond Girl Caroline Munro being slathered in the ‘tan’.
This was back in 1967, which may explain why it looks nothing like our Fake Bake or St Tropez, with a chalky consistency that looks anything but natural.
It’s also being applied with a roller, which is a novel way to get full coverage.
The photos were taken in Hyde Park half a century ago, and show how much our beauty products have changed over the years.
Since then, fake tan has come on in leaps and bounds, with different varieties depending on the shade, smell, and finish you want.
There are also a multitude of prepping products, applicators and removers so you don’t need to go in the sun to get a glow.
